Thiruvananthapuram: The results of Keralam Assembly Elections 2026 have changed the tone of the politics of the state. Congress-led UDF has cleared the way to return to power by securing majority. This change has been seen after about ten years. There is definitely enthusiasm in the party after the victory, but the discussion regarding the face of the Chief Minister has intensified.
This time UDF performed strongly and came ahead with a clear lead. This is being seen as being directly linked to people's resentment. An atmosphere was created against the LDF government which was in power for a long time, which benefited the Congress alliance.
After the victory, the biggest question is who will become the Chief Minister. The party has not decided any name yet. In such a situation, names of different leaders are coming out and internal discussions are also going on.
Many big leaders are said to be in this race. The name of V.D. Satheesan is being considered at the forefront. Apart from this. C. Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala are also contenders. Shashi Tharoor's name is also in discussion at some places.
When many leaders are in contention, it is natural to have differences of opinion. Different groups are also active in Congress. However, efforts will be made to choose such a name on which everyone can agree and the government can run smoothly.
Now the party high command has to decide. There will be a meeting of the legislative party in the coming days and after that the name of the Chief Minister will be decided.
Overall, there has been a change in the government in Keralam, but the real focus is now on who takes charge of the new government.
