The special thing is that scientists say that this statue of Nandi grows by one inch every 20 years, due to which the structure of the temple also has to be changed. Some say that this statue will become huge in the future and indicate the Great Deluge.

History of the temple: Agastya Rishi and the special grace of Shiva

This amazing Shiva temple is located in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, which is about 308 km from Hyderabad. It was built in the 15th century by King Harihar Bukka Raya of the Vijayanagara Empire. The architecture of the temple reflects the mixed influence of the Pallava, Chola, Chalukya, and Vijayanagara periods.

According to the story, Agastya Rishi intended to build a temple for Lord Venkateshwara at this site, but when the idol’s thumb broke, he chose to worship Lord Shiva instead. After this, Lord Shiva himself appeared and said that this place is like Mount Kailash, so his temple should be built here.

The mystery of crows: The curse of Agastya Rishi

There is another mystery associated with this temple—crows never come here. It is believed that Agastya Rishi, seeing the crows being disturbed during penance, cursed them that they would never come to this place. That is why even today crows do not come to these temple premises.

What is the story of the future?

According to local beliefs, this statue of Nandi will come alive at the end of Kaliyuga and signal the apocalypse. This temple is not only a center of religious faith but also a mysterious link between history and science that keeps attracting people.
