Vrindavan: Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu visited the Vrindavan spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj, and about herself and society services.
Navjot Singh's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who is also a social worker, asked Premanand ji that "how she could improve herself and serve her community more effectively."
"Hum samaj seva main hai, aur kya sudhar kare apne ap main ki samaj ki aur ache se seva kr saake," she asked from Premanand ji.
The cancer survivor also wanted to understand the deeper meaning of devotion.
Replying to Navjot Kaur's question, Premanand ji said that you don't need prayer beads to do "seva" or pray to God.
"Samaj m jo apko adhikar aur padh mila hua hai, uska adhik se adhik jahan sewa nhi pahunch pa rahi hai, unke upar dhyan dijiye, aur logpriye baniye and samajpriye baniye, jo samaj ki sewa bhagwat maho se krta hai toh bhagwan usse pe kripa krte hai, hmhe apne padh ka sadhupyog kare, eska saman kare."
The spiritual leader said that true devotion is not measured only by ritual practices, like chanting on a mala. And further said that instead a real spiritual service comes from using our position and abilities to help others who are in need.
The spiritual leader also said that long chanting sessions are not the only path to spiritual fulfilment but rather people should use their position and energy to help those in need.
"Being popular or influential isn't enough," Premanand told Navjot Kaur.
Highlighting the main 'bhakti', the spiritual leader said that "the true devotion is in serving people who need help." And also pointed out that when people use their social influence and power to support the less fortunate, then that itself is a form of real 'bhakti' for God.
The guru further said that this kind of service will attract grace and also build goodwill for the person, both in this life and beyond.
Now, the video has been reshared widely across social media platforms and has sparked a range of reactions.
