Chhath Puja 2025: Chhath Puja, the great festival of Kartik month, will be celebrated this year starting from 25th October till 28th October. This festival of Surya worship is celebrated with great devotion and faith for four days. This festival is celebrated with special enthusiasm in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR.

Day 1 – Nahay Khay (25 October)

Chhath Puja starts with 'Nahay Khay.' On this day, Vrati (those observing fast) take a holy bath, purify the house, and consume satvik food. The food is prepared with complete purity, and wood or cow dung cake is used in cooking. It is believed that from this day both the body and mind of the fasting person become pure.

Second day – Kharna (26 October)

On the day of 'Kharna,' the devotees observe a waterless fast for the whole day and after sunset, make prasad of jaggery-rice kheer and roti and offer it to the Sun God. After this, family and neighborhood people come together and take Prasad. This day is considered to be the most difficult but sacred phase of the Chhath fast.

Third day – Evening Arghya (27 October)

The third day of Chhath Puja is the most important. On this day, the devotees offer Arghya to the setting sun by standing on a river, pond, or ghat. Women dress up in traditional costumes and worship and pray to the Sun God for the happiness and prosperity of the family.

Fourth day – Usha Arghya (28 October)

On the last day, the devotees offer Arghya to the rising sun, and then the fast ends. During this time, good wishes for the family are sought from the Sun God, and prayers for the longevity and health of the children are prayed to Chhathi Maiya.

Importance of Chhath Puja

The Chhath festival is the festival of worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. It is believed that this puja brings blessings of happiness, health, prosperity, and positive energy in life. Those observing 'Vrat' worship with pure conduct, restraint, and true devotion for four days.

Chhath Puja is not only a religious festival, but it is also a symbol of acknowledging the importance of nature, water, and sun.
