New Delhi: Today i.e. on Monday, 14 September 2026, the holy festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated. In this festival, which starts from Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, devotees install the idol of Lord Ganesha in homes and pandals and worship it with rituals. It is believed that by worshipping Ganpati Bappa, all the obstacles in life are removed and one is blessed with happiness and prosperity.

What is the auspicious time of Ganesh Sthapana today?

According to the Vedic calendar, Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi Tithi has started on 14th September at 7:06 am and will remain till 7:44 am on 15th September. Today, the time from 11:02 pm to 1:31 pm is considered to be the most auspicious for the establishment of Ganesh. In this auspicious time, Ganpati can be established with rituals.

What are the things required for Ganesh puja?

It is considered auspicious to keep the puja material ready in advance for the establishment and worship of Ganpati Bappa. For this, keep an eco-friendly or clay Ganesha idol, clean pot, red or yellow cloth, Kalash, mango leaves, coired coconut, roli, mouli, sandalwood and Akshat. Apart from this, fresh flowers, Durva grass, incense, incense sticks, pure ghee lamp and camphor will be required to offer to Lord Ganesha. Modak, laddu and seasonal fruits can be kept for offering.

How to establish Ganpati Bappa in the house?

First of all, clean the place of worship thoroughly and place a post there. Spread a red or yellow cloth on the stool. After this, in the auspicious time, install the idol of Lord Ganesha with devotion while chanting the mantra 'Om Gan Ganapataye Namah'.

How to install the Kalash?

Keep the kalash filled with water on rice near the idol of Lord Ganesha. Decorate the kalash with mango leaves and coconut. After this, offer Roli, Akshat, Chandan and Durva to Lord Ganesha. There is a tradition of offering at least 21 bundles of Durva to Lord Ganesha in the puja.

You can offer Modak and Laddus to Lord Ganesha. After this, perform Aarti of Lord Ganesha by lighting incense sticks and praying for the well-being and happiness and prosperity of the family.
