Why Is Mokshada Ekadashi Considered So Auspicious?

Mokshada Ekadashi is known for granting liberation from worldly suffering and removing the burden of past sins. Scriptures say that observing this vrat opens the gates of Vaikuntha after death. It is believed that the blessings received on this day uplift not only the devotee but also their ancestors. According to Vishnu Purana, Lord Krishna himself told Arjuna that this vrat grants a place in Vaikuntha. Because of this divine promise, countless devotees wait eagerly every year for this sacred Ekadashi. Faith and devotion make this day extremely special.

What Rituals Should Be Performed On This Ekadashi?

Devotees wake up early, take a holy bath and wear clean clothes before beginning the vrat. They take a firm vow to observe the fast with devotion. A lamp is lit in the home temple and Lord Vishnu’s idol or picture is placed on a clean wooden platform. Devotees offer water, yellow clothes, roli, akshat and sweet offerings. Listening to the Ekadashi story and chanting Vishnu Sahasranama is considered essential. The worship continues with mantra recitation and ends with a peaceful aarti.

How Should The Vishnu Puja Be Performed?

The puja begins with offering water to Lord Vishnu, symbolizing purity and devotion. Devotees decorate the idol with yellow cloth, which is believed to be the Lord’s favorite color. Sandalwood paste, flowers and bhog are then offered. Chanting Vishnu mantras helps calm the mind and strengthen spiritual focus. Devotees pray for forgiveness, guidance and liberation. Performing the rituals with sincerity is considered more important than perfection. The puja ends with gratitude and silent reflection.
