New Delhi: Mahindra is working on a new version of its popular SUV Thar. Preparations are going on for the facelift model coming in 2026 and recently it was seen again during testing. Although the vehicle was completely covered, there were definitely indications of some changes. No official announcement has been made by the company yet, but discussions regarding the launch have intensified.

Was the new design seen during testing?

The SUV was completely covered during testing, but there are indications of changes in its front look. According to reports, its design may be inspired by Mahindra Thar Roxx. Round LED DRL and updated grille can give it a more modern look than before. Mild changes are also expected in the rear profile.

Are new features going to be available?

Many new features can be added to the facelift version. This may include Level-2 ADAS, an updated interior and a new infotainment system. Features like a 10.25 inch screen, wireless charging, a rear AC vent and a Type-C port have been added in the earlier updates, which can be further improved.

Will there be changes in the engine also?

According to the information, there is little possibility of major changes in engine options. The existing engine options are likely to continue—2.0 liter turbo petrol, 1.5 liter diesel and 2.2 liter diesel engines. The company can focus on keeping the off-roading capability as strong as before.

Will the off-roading DNA remain intact?

The identity of the Thar is its off-roading capability and this will be retained in the facelift as well. With a 4x4 system and strong suspension setup, this SUV will be capable of running on difficult roads like before.

When can it be launched?

The company has not yet given any official date regarding the launch, but according to reports, this facelift version can be introduced in the Indian market by mid-2026.

Will this update make a big impact in the market?

With new technology and features, the competition of the updated Thar can become stronger in its segment. This will be an attractive option especially for those customers who want a balance of style, technology and off-roading.
