New Delhi: The demand for 7-seater cars is continuously increasing in the Indian auto market and now a new competition is being seen in this segment. Nissan has launched its affordable 7-seater car Gravitas in the market, which is a direct competitor to the long-trusted Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. On one hand, Gravitas is trying to woo customers with its low price and new features, while on the other hand, Ertiga is in the fray with its strong engine, better space and brand value. In such a situation, the question before the buyers is that which of the two cars will prove to be a more sensible deal.

Who is ahead in terms of price?

If we talk about price, Nissan Gravit seems to have a clear lead in this competition. The starting ex-showroom price of Gravitas has been kept at around Rs 5.6 lakh, which makes it one of the cheapest 7-seater cars in the country. Whereas the price of Maruti Ertiga starts from Rs 8.8 lakh and goes up to around Rs 13 lakh in the top variant. Gravit may become a more attractive option for budget-conscious customers.

Which is better in space and size?

In terms of size and cabin space, Ertiga is considered a bigger and more comfortable car. Its long wheelbase and wide cabin provide better comfort on long journeys. The design of Gravit is certainly compact, but it also has the facility of seating in all three rows. Its third row can be removed if needed, which increases the boot space.

Who comes out ahead in the race of features?

In terms of features, Nissan Gravit tries to prove itself more modern. It has a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, AC vents for all rows and many safety features. Ertiga also has the necessary features, but in terms of technology, Gravit seems to be a little ahead.

What is the difference between engine and performance?

On the performance front, Ertiga appears stronger. It has a 1.5 liter petrol engine, which gives more power and a better driving experience. The Gravitas, on the other hand, has a 1.0 liter petrol engine, which is fine for city driving but may feel a little weak on the highway in a fully loaded car.

Which one has better mileage and maintenance?

Both the cars offer decent figures in terms of mileage as per their respective segments. However, the maintenance cost and service network of Maruti vehicles is considered strong across the country, which goes in favor of Ertiga. Nissan still needs to win more trust on this front.

After all, who should the buyer choose?

If your budget is limited and you want a 7-seater car at a low price, then Nissan Gravitas can be a practical option. But if you prioritize more space, better engines and long-proven reliability, the Maruti Ertiga is still a safe and sensible choice.
