Auto News: To promote technology, investment, renewable energy, and green hydrogen in Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government is exploring possibilities in Japan. A delegation of the government is in Japan. Its objective is to make Uttar Pradesh a leading state in the field of innovation and development of clean energy. This delegation is being led by Chief Minister's advisor Avnish Awasthi. It also includes Invest UP CEO Vijay Kiran Anand and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) Director Inderjit Singh.

A highlight of the visit was a discussion on the Toyota Mirai, a hydrogen fuel cell car that converts hydrogen and oxygen into electricity and excretes only water. It was described as a good example of sustainable transport, which the state wants to promote.

UP will produce hydrogen.

The Uttar Pradesh team is exploring the possibility of setting up a green hydrogen production and training center to promote innovation in the field of clean energy and sustainable transportation. During this, the delegation visited the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Nanomaterial Center of Yamanashi University, Japan, which is known for its advanced research on fuel cell technology.

How is the Toyota Mirai car?

The Toyota Mirai is a hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) sedan, which is known for its long driving range and running on hydrogen fuel. It uses a fuel cell system to convert hydrogen into electricity, which powers the electric motor. The interesting thing is that instead of smoke, only water and steam come out of its exhaust pipe. This car can run up to 650 km once it is full of hydrogen.

Pilot project running in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motors, in collaboration with the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), launched this car in India as a pilot project in 2022. The company is first testing Mirai on Indian roads and conditions. Regarding this car, Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that this hydrogen-powered car is one of the zero-emission solutions. The Road Transport and Highways Minister said that it is completely environmentally friendly and has no emissions other than water.
