New Delhi: Ahead of Hyundai's launch, several images of its new compact SUV, the Bayon, have surfaced online. These images showcase the car's design and cabin. It's scheduled to launch in India on October 26th, and bookings have already begun for ₹11,000. This SUV will slot between the company's Venue and Creta. It will feature two 12.3-inch screens, an AI voice assistant, and connected car features. It will be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.
The Hyundai Bayon's design appears quite distinctive in the images that have surfaced. Its red color, raised bodywork, and black cladding give it an SUV-like appearance. The front features slim H-Edge LED daytime running lights, with the main headlamps positioned below them. A wide grille and silver bumper inserts enhance its front appearance. This SUV measures approximately 4.2 meters in length, placing it between the Hyundai Venue and Creta.
The sides feature wheel arches, geometrically designed alloy wheels, and roof rails. The rear lighting design follows the same horizontal and vertical styling as the front. Features like a roof spoiler, rear wiper, shark-fin antenna, and parking sensors are also visible.
The Hyundai Bayon's cabin features a dual-tone theme. A curved panel sits atop the dashboard, housing two 12.3-inch screens: one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. Below the screens are physical buttons for options like music, maps, and home. A dedicated panel for climate control, two USB-C ports, and luggage space are also available. The images show an automatic gear selector, suggesting the car in the photos is equipped with the IVT automatic gearbox.
The Hyundai Bayon features a strong focus on technology. The company has confirmed that it will feature a generative AI voice assistant developed with Perplexity and SoundHound AI. This will help understand conversational instructions in English. The SUV will also support over 500 offline voice commands in six languages, including Hindi and Hinglish. This means that some voice commands won't require an internet connection. Additionally, it will feature NVIDIA's technology-based ccNC connected car system and over 70 Bluelink connected features. The company will also offer over-the-air (OTA) updates for the vehicle control unit until 2019.
The Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder MPi petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque. It will be offered with two gearbox options: a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic transmission. Bookings for the SUV have begun at ₹11,000, and its launch is scheduled for October 26th. However, full details about pricing and features available in different variants will be revealed at launch. Pricing will determine how Hyundai positions it against the Venue and Creta.
