New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India is preparing to strengthen its hold in the electric SUV segment. The company is going to introduce its new three-row electric SUV on August 26, 2026, which is being called MG Hector Hawk in reports. This will not be an electric version of the existing Hector but a separate model. The SUV is being linked to the Wuling Starlight 560 and will compete with 7-seater electric SUVs like the Mahindra XEV 9S in India.

What will be special in this new electric SUV?

The new SUV is being seen as a family-oriented three-row model. Its global donor model is about 4.75 meters long and has seating for seven people. A different style will be seen in the design from the current Hector. Thin DRLs, square headlamps, square wheel arches and straight tailgate can give it a more powerful look.

Can these features be found in the cabin?

Talking about the features, the new SUV is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster. According to reports, it can be provided with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen. Apart from this, features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vent and 360 degree camera can also be available. ADAS technology can also be a part of this.

How big will the battery be and how much range will it provide?

The electric model is likely to get a 69.2kWh LFP battery. Along with this, an electric motor can be provided on the front axle, which will give a power of about 204PS and a torque of 310Nm. In the global model, a range of about 530 kilometers has been stated under CLTC cycle. However, its range may be different after official testing and certification in India.

Is it expected to be strong in fast charging also?

The SUV has also been made faster in terms of charging. For the global model, it is claimed to take about 20 minutes to charge the battery from 30 to 80 percent. The company will clarify the figures related to charging speed and battery in the upcoming models in India at the time of launch. Therefore, for now it would be better to look at these figures only as possible specifications.

Could a PHEV version also come later?

JSW MG's plans are not limited to electric models only. The company introduced its MG ADAPT platform in July, which is designed for powertrains such as EV, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range-extender. The company has said to launch one EV and one PHEV on this platform in FY 2026-27.

According to reports, the PHEV version of this SUV may hit the market later. It is likely to have a 1.5 liter petrol engine, electric motor and 20.5kWh battery. However, figures related to its power, range and price have not been officially revealed yet.

How much can the price be?

The price of the new electric SUV is expected to be between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 27 lakh ex-showroom. If the company launches it in this range, it will compete directly with other premium electric SUVs including Mahindra XEV 9S. Official details of the price and variants are expected to be revealed during the launch on August 26.
