New Delhi: Kia India has taken a big step towards making its popular mid-size SUV Seltos more premium. The company has launched its two new top variants GTX(O) and X-Line(O) in the Indian market. More advanced safety features, better connectivity and many premium features have been added to these new variants. The company says that these variants have been designed keeping in mind those customers who want a better experience of luxury and security with modern technology. The starting ex-showroom price of the new Seltos has been kept at Rs 21.57 lakh.

What has changed in the new variants?

Kia has positioned the GTX(O) and X-Line(O) as a step up from the current top model. The biggest changes are seen in the safety and driving assistance systems. Now a total of 28 advanced driver assistance features along with Level-2 ADAS have been provided in these variants. Many new safety functions have also been included in these, which will help in making driving safer than before. Apart from this, the SUV also gets features like head-up display (HUD), front and rear dashcam, rain sensing wipers, one-touch auto up/down for all power windows and inbuilt navigation in the digital instrument cluster.

What will you get in engine and transmission?

Both the top variants of the new Kia Seltos are available with two engine options. The first is a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, which is offered with a 7-speed dualclutch automatic (DCT) gearbox. The second is a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which gets a 6-speed automatic transmission. At present the company has made these variants available only with automatic gearbox.

What's new in connected car technology?

The Kia Connect system has also been updated in the new Seltos. Now users will get many additional facilities related to the vehicle through the smartphone app. Real-time vehicle monitoring, remote control, live navigation and other smart connected features have been made better than ever before. The company claims that this will give customers a more convenient and digital driving experience.

Which vehicles will compete?

The Kia Seltos already competes in the most popular mid-size SUV segment in the Indian market. After the arrival of new variants, its competition will become tougher with SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor. Kia has tried to strengthen its hold in terms of features.

Why is this launch special for customers?

In the last few years, Indian customers have started considering not only engine or mileage but also safety, technology and premium features as the important basis of purchase. Keeping this changing demand in mind, Kia has equipped the top variants of Seltos with new features. For customers who want an SUV that offers powerful performance along with state-of-the-art safety technology and luxury features, then the GTX(O) and X-Line(O) can prove to be strong options. The company hopes that these new variants will also give a new boost to the sales of Seltos.
