New Delhi: The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a 5-door premium lifestyle SUV available at an ex-showroom price of ₹12.39 lakh (starting) to ₹22.25 lakh (top model). It's more comfortable and practical than the 3-door Thar. It's powered by 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines, offers 5-seat capacity, and offers excellent 5-star (BNCAP) safety.

What is Mahindra Thar Roxx Price?

Prices for the Mahindra Thar Roxx start at ₹12.39 lakh, with the top-of-the-line model going up to ₹22.25 lakh. The Thar Roxx is available in 21 variants, with the Thar Roxx MX1 RWD being the base model and the Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7L 4WD Diesel AT being the top model.

What is Mahindra Thar Roxx Review?

“The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a fantastic SUV. It offers a good blend of off-roader style and modern car design. However, it does demand a lot of patience when it comes to ride comfort. If you can compromise on this, then it will be perfect for you!” a CarDekho expert said.

"The Mahindra Thar Rock is more than just a Thar with a rear door. It embodies the Thar's rugged off-road SUV formula and is a tech-loaded, family-friendly, and appealing car," he added.

How is the exterior?

The biggest positive aspect of the Thar is that its road presence quite impressive, and this has been further enhanced with the Thar Roxx. Yes, the car is longer and has a longer wheelbase. However, its width has also increased, which improves its road presence.

The Thar Roxx's looks are familiar, but its distinctive front grille and C-shaped LED daytime running lamps make it distinct. It also features LED projector headlamps, LED indicators, and LED fog lamps.

On the sides, the biggest change is the alloy wheels. It features 19-inch alloy wheels shod with large all-terrain tires. The rear door is completely new and features hinges. I would have liked it more if it had flush-fitting door handles.

One convenience feature that should have been included compared to the 3-door Thar is a remote-opening fuel filler cap that can be operated from inside the car.

The rear of the Thar Roxx looks quite different compared to the Thar 3-door. This is due to the significant changes to its top cladding. It also features a high-mounted stop lamp. It also features a 19-inch full-size alloy wheel at the rear. It also features LED taillamps and LED indicators.

When it comes to color choices, this car comes in Battleship Gray, Stealth Black, Tango Red, Nebula Blue, Everest White, Deep Forest, and Burnt Sienna.

How is Mahindra Thar Roxx interior?

The layout is similar to the 3-door Thar, but the materials and quality have completely changed. This also reflects a more urban, family-focused approach to the Roxx. The upper portion of the dashboard is covered in soft leatherette with contrast stitching. The steering wheel, door pads, and elbow pads are also covered in soft leatherette. The seats offer a premium feel. Even in terms of interior quality, the Thar Roxx is no less than the XUV700, and in some cases, it's even better.

The Thar Roxx offers a good driving position, but if you've only driven sedans or hatchbacks, you'll need to get used to it. Even if you've driven an SUV like the Creta, the Thar Roxx will offer a completely new experience. You sit high and have a good view. However, its wide fenders are a must-have in heavy traffic.

While the Thar Roxx is a large car, its front seats aren't as spacious. Passengers up to 6 feet tall will feel comfortable, but the seating space is a bit narrow. If you're tall and well-built, your legs will rub against the center console and door grab handles.

Mahindra Thar Roxx steering wheel: If you're tall, the footwell will also feel narrow. Additionally, the steering wheel is only adjustable for height, forcing you to sit close to the footwell, creating an awkward driving position.

Even if you're tall, you'll find the Scorpio N offers better seating space and seat comfort than the Thar Roxx.

Entering the cabin requires a side step. The best part is that the grab handles are well-placed, and the doors open up to 90 degrees. Younger members of your family won't have any issues, but older ones will. The door aperture is quite narrow, making it more difficult to access the rear seat than a typical urban SUV.

Mahindra Thar Roxx rear seats: Once inside the cabin, you'll find plenty of space. Even people up to 6 feet tall won't have any problems with legroom, kneeroom, and headroom. Panoramic Sunroof

Despite its compact size, it offers good space. It also offers good under-thigh support and the cushioning is quite supportive. You can recline the rear seats for increased comfort.

Storage Options: The Roxx's cabin is well-practiced, with door pockets that can hold a small bottle, a large wireless charger tray, two front cupholders, storage under the armrest, and a large glove box with a cooling function (you can also store several cold drink cans here).

Mahindra Thar Roxx front door: Also, in the rear-wheel drive variant, the 4x4 shifter makes way for a large storage pocket, which is very practical. Rear-seat passengers can enjoy an armrest with two cupholders and seatback pockets with dedicated slots for mobile phones.

Charging Options: Charging options include a 65-watt Type-C charger, a USB charger, and a wireless charger. A 12-volt socket is missing from the front, which is surprising. Rear seat passengers get a Type-C charging port and a slot for their phone/device.

What are features of Thar Roxx?

If one word can describe the Thar Roxx's feature list, it's loaded. The driver-side console now houses all the power window switches, lock/unlock switch, and ORVM controls in one place. Additionally, you'll find features like automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, enhanced steering control, auto day/night IRVM, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, and push-button start/stop. When it comes to features, Mahindra has left no stone unturned.

How about the Mahindra Thar Roxx 10.25-inch touchscreen?

The 10.25-inch touchscreen runs on the latest AdrenoX software and features wireless Android Auto and some built-in apps. It also features Apple CarPlay, but this feature was only activated a few months after the car went on sale. If your Thar Roxx (AX grade) doesn't have this feature yet, you can have it activated through a service center. The touchscreen is easy to use, but many Thar Roxx owners, and I myself, have experienced issues where the screen won't boot or hangs mid-cycle. However, the good thing is that it comes with a 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, which delivers excellent sound.

What about the Mahindra Thar Roxx panoramic sunroof?

You also get a digital instrument cluster, similar to the one in the Scorpio N. The 10.25-inch screen has a distinct layout, good graphics, and can also display Google Maps when using Android Auto. Blind spot view from the left and right cameras is also visible here, but the camera processing quality could have been better. The last feature we really liked is the panoramic sunroof, which is quite large for the car's size.

What are the safety features?

The Thar Roxx comes with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), three-point seat belts for all passengers, and a brake-locking differential from the base variant. Its top variants include features like front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. The Thar Roxx has received a 5 out of 5 star crash test safety rating in the adult and child occupant categories from the Bharat NCAP crash test.

What about performance?

The Thar Rox SUV is offered with a 2-liter turbo petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. Both engines are available with manual and automatic gearbox options, but only the diesel engine offers a 4x4 option.

Which variant of the Mahindra Thar Rox is worth the money?

The Mahindra Thar Rocks is available in six variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L.

Mahindra Thar Rocks MX1 2025: It comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors, and a host of safety features. It also comes with four power windows, push-button start, a touchscreen, and four speakers. This variant offers basic safety features and may be considered by those on a budget.

Mahindra Thar Rocks MX3 2025: The MX3 variant also offers a rear camera, auto-dimming IRVM, electric mirror adjustment, and an HD touchscreen, among other features. This is the first variant to offer an automatic transmission option, whether you choose a petrol or diesel Thar Rocks.

Mahindra Thar Rock MX5: Except for the diesel 4x4 automatic, all engine and transmission options of the Thar Rock 2025 are available in this variant. This variant gets a more premium look with LED daytime running lamps, LED projector fog lights, a single-pane sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a leatherette interior.

Mahindra Thar Rocks AX3L: This variant offers some premium features over the MX5 variant, which may encourage customers to consider upgrading to it. It features a 10.25-inch digital cluster, auto AC, auto headlamps, auto wipers, and ADAS features like auto braking, lane keep assist, and high-beam assist. This variant is available only with a diesel manual.

Mahindra Thar Rocks AX5L: The 2025 Thar Rocks AX5L is available only with a diesel automatic powertrain, regardless of whether you choose rear-wheel drive or 4x4. The MX5 and AX3L variants offer features that are not available in other variants, but the AXL offers a combination of these features.

Mahindra Thar Rock AX7L: This fully loaded variant of the Thar Rock offers a host of tech-based and luxury features, including a 360-degree camera, a Harman Kardon music system, a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch alloy wheels. You don't need much from this variant, as it's already packed with features. Except for the petrol manual, this variant offers all the engines and transmissions offered with the 2025 Thar Rock.

Is the Mahindra Thar Roxx a right choice for you?

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a great option for those looking for a rugged, feature-loaded, tough, yet premium SUV. Its engine and transmission offer excellent performance, and those looking for a true off-road vehicle should consider the 4x4 model. Even without the 4x4, the Thar 2025 is still available in India.
