New Delhi: Mahindra has launched its new SUV, the XUV 7XO, in the Indian market. This is the company's new flagship ICE model. Now the competition between Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari is tough. Both are premium three-row SUVs. Perfect for family. Mahindra has more power, and diesel also has AWD option. Comfort and presence are better in Safari.

What is the price?

The XUV700 is cheaper than the Tata Safari. The price of the XUV700 starts from Rs 13.66 lakh, and the top variant goes up to Rs 24.92 lakh. There is a petrol option in the base model. But Safari is a bit expensive, and the price starts from Rs 14.66 lakh. Safari is mostly sold in diesel variants only. In this respect, the XUV700 offers more value.

How is the engine?

Mahindra's 2.0-liter petrol variant has a capacity of 197 bhp and 380 Nm torque. The diesel variant has a capacity of 182 bhp and 450 Nm. The diesel variant of Safari has a capacity of 168 bhp and 350 Nm. 

What transmission do you get?

Both vehicles have the option of 6-speed manual and automatic gears. Mahindra has AWD only on diesel top end. 

What are the dimensions?

The XUV700 is longer and has a longer wheelbase. The Safari is wide and tall. Ground clearance seems better in Safari. Wheel size in Safari is up to 19 inches.

How is the seating and space?

Both the vehicles are six- or seven seater. Safari's captain seats are comfortable. Safari in the third row is better and the boot space is also quite good.

What features are available?

Both have panoramic sunroofs. There is also a big touchscreen. An ADAS Level-2 facility is also available. The facility of ventilated seats is also available. Mahindra also features a dual screen. Safari also features JBL sound.

How is the safety?

Both the vehicles are 5-star rated. Both have the facility of 7 airbags. Safari shares the same build as Land Rover. Mahindra's car is also very strong.

What is the mileage?

The XUV700 diesel gets a mileage of 16-17 kmpl. Safari has a mileage of only 14-16 kmpl. The mileage of both the vehicles is less in petrol variants.

Who is better and why?

If you want performance and features, then give priority to the XUV700. Comfort and presence will be available only in Safari. XUV700 wins in budget. Safari gives a premium feel. Do take a test drive. Now the decision is yours.
