New Delhi: German carmaker Volkswagen is preparing to further strengthen its SUV lineup in India. The company has released the first teaser of a new SUV to be launched soon on social media. After this teaser, the hustle and bustle in the auto sector has intensified. Although the company has not yet clarified the name of the model, the indications are telling a lot.
The complete glimpse of the SUV has not been shown in the teaser released, but important things related to the design have come to light. Connected LED DRL and taillights are clearly visible in the teaser. Along with this, there are also indications of the illuminated Volkswagen logo being given in the car. This feature is usually seen in the premium models of the company.
The company has not disclosed the name, but auto industry sources say that the Volkswagen Tayron can be launched in India. This SUV is already present in the global market and falls in the segment above Tiguan. If this happens, then this SUV will directly target the premium segment in the Indian market.
According to reports, many modern features can be given in the new SUV. This may include a panoramic sunroof, full LED headlights, 18 to 19 inch alloy wheels, a premium interior and a digital display. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of getting Level-2 ADAS safety features.
There is currently no official information regarding the engine. It is believed that it can be given a turbo petrol engine, which will come with an automatic gearbox. The picture is not clear yet on the option of a diesel engine.
Volkswagen has not made any announcement regarding the launch date. However, auto experts believe that the company can launch this SUV in the Indian market in the next one to two months. More teasers or information may be revealed in the coming days.
