Bihar Daroga Recruitment Protest: Students Break Barricades at JP Golambar, Move Towards CM Residence

Patna: The anger of the candidates preparing for competitive examinations was visible on the streets in Patna on Tuesday. A large number of students gathered at Gandhi Maidan to protest against alleged irregularities, paper leaks and irregularities in the process in Bihar Police Inspector recruitment and 70th BPSC preliminary examination. After this they proceeded to surround the Chief Minister's residence. Police tried to stop them near JP Golambar, but the protesters broke the barricades and started moving forward. During this period, there was a scuffle and heated argument between the students and the police.

Why did the students leave Gandhi Maidan?

Not only the candidates of Inspector recruitment, but also students of BSSC and 70th BPSC were involved in the demonstration. Candidates say that questions are being raised for a long time regarding the process of various competitive examinations. Due to this resentment, the students decided to take to the streets together and convey their demands to the government.

Students from Gandhi Maidan moved towards JP Golambar raising slogans. Their intention was to reach the Chief Minister's residence and put forward their demands. The administration had already put up barricades on the way, but the situation worsened as the crowd increased.

How did the situation worsen at JP Golambar?

Police stopped the protesters by placing iron barricades near JP Golambar. Talks and sloganeering continued between the two sides for some time. After this the students started removing the barricading by pushing it. Many protesters also climbed over the barricade. The police tried to stop them, after which a scuffle broke out on the spot.

In view of the situation, additional police force was deployed there. The administration was trying to ensure that the protesters did not move forward and law and order were maintained.

What is the main demand of the candidates?

The biggest demand of the protesting students is regarding the 70th BPSC preliminary examination and Bihar Police Inspector recruitment process. They allege that there have been irregularities in these examinations. Students have also raised the demand for cancellation of Inspector recruitment process for 1799 posts. Candidates say that any irregularities in the process like recruitment directly impact the youth who prepare for months and sometimes years. For this reason they are demanding a fair investigation and transparency in the entire process.

Why resentment regarding BSSC exams?

The students participating in the protest also raised the issue of pending examinations of Bihar Staff Selection Commission i.e. BSSC. Their demand is that the examinations which have been pending for a long time should be conducted soon. Students say that the delay in the examination calendar affects the preparation and further plans of the candidates.

What demands were raised from the government?

The candidates want a high-level investigation into the alleged irregularities. He says that transparency is necessary in recruitment and competitive examinations so that hardworking candidates remain confident about their future. At present, the administration has increased security arrangements after the clash between police and students during the protest.

This demonstration in Patna has once again brought to light the displeasure of the youth regarding competitive examinations and recruitment processes in Bihar. Now it remains to be seen what action the government and the concerned commission take on the demands of the candidates.
