Patna: The rising water level of Ganga and Punpun rivers in Patna, the capital of Bihar, has once again raised concerns in the low-lying areas and Diara areas. A continuous rise in the water level of both the rivers was recorded between Thursday evening and Friday morning. Water rose by 4 to 12 centimeters at different ghats of the Ganga, while Sripalpur on the Punpun river rose by 24 centimeters within 12 hours. The water level of Ganga at Gandhi Ghat has reached just 16 cm below the highest flood level.

In which areas of Ganga water increased rapidly?

According to the report of the Water Resources Department at 6 am on Friday, the water level of Ganga in Maner was recorded at 53.46 meters. There was no change here between Thursday evening and Friday morning. However, this level is just 33 centimeters below the highest flood level of 53.79 metres.

The water level of Ganga at Digha Ghat increased from 51.64 meters to 51.68 meters. That means there was an increase of four centimeters in 12 hours. The water here is currently 84 centimeters below the highest flood level.

How close did the water of Ganga reach Gandhi Ghat?

The situation at Gandhi Ghat remains more worrying. The water level of Ganga here was 50.31 meters at 6 pm on Thursday, which increased to 50.36 meters on Friday morning.
