Patna: A major uproar erupted in Bihar's Patna on Friday after a young man was crushed to death by a speeding bus in the Badi Pahadi area. An enraged crowd allegedly set three police jeeps and a bus on fire and stone pelting was also reported.
On Friday morning, a young man was crushed by a speeding passenger bus on National Highway No. 30 near Badi Pahari under Agamkuan police station on Friday morning.
Manish Kumar, 26, a local, was identified as the deceased. Enraged by the incident, a bus and three police cars, that arrived at the scene when they heard about the situation, were set on fire.
The mob is said to have thrown stones at police and journalists as well.
Patna City Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Satyam Sahay, have arrived at the spot to take a stock of the situation.
"A road accident occurred. Following the accident, the road was blocked using the deceased's body, and acts of violence took place during this time. The individuals involved in the violence are being identified. The body has now been removed from the road, and traffic flow has been restored," Patna City SDM Satyam Sahay said.
Since a tragic incident, the entire area is in tension. The incident angered people, so they took to the road and created a traffic jam that was about 10 km long. Numerous cars are standing idle for hours and children and parents in school buses are struggling too.
