CNG Prices Hiked Again in Delhi-NCR, Up by Re 1 Per Kg for Second Time in a Week

New Delhi: Due the ongoing West Asia conflict, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) users in Delhi-NCR have once again been hit by inflation. CNG prices have been increased by Re 1 per kg starting Sunday. This is the second such hike in CNG prices in the last two days. Earlier, on May 15, the price was increased by Rs 2 per kg.

What is the rate now?

With the new prices in place, CNG is now available in Delhi for Rs 80.09 per kg. In Noida and Ghaziabad, the price has increased to Rs 88.70 per kg. The development comes just two days after CNG  CNG prices were raised by Rs 2 per kg on Friday, taking the increase in CNG rates to Rs 3 per kg in 48 hours.

Who will be affected by price increase?

The increase in CNG prices will most impact those who use this fuel daily. Millions of private car owners, auto drivers, taxi drivers, and commercial vehicles in Delhi-NCR run on CNG. Consequently, the possibility of fare increases has also increased. 

Fuel prices are rising due to rising energy prices in the international market. The ongoing tensions in West Asia have impacted the supply of crude oil and gas, the result of which are being felt in many countries, including India. This is why the prices of petrol, diesel, and CNG are constantly fluctuating. Recently, petrol and diesel prices were also increased by Rs 3 per liter. 

What is the price of petrol?

Now, the price of petrol in Delhi has reached  to Rs 97.77 per liter and diesel Rs 90.67 per liter. However, there has been no change in the prices of both piped natural gas (PNG) and domestic cooking gas (LPG) for cooking. The increase in CNG prices could further increase people's daily travel costs. State-owned oil companies said that the price changes were necessary due to rising international costs.
