New Delhi: Gold prices showed little movement on Monday as buyers and investors paused ahead of the week. Silver also held its ground with modest changes compared with recent days. Markets in major cities reported city-specific rates that could help buyers plan their purchases ahead of the wedding and festival season.
In most major cities, the cost of 24-carat gold (also referred to as 999 pure gold) hovered around Rs 13,452 per gram, while 22-carat gold (which contains 91.67 percent pure gold, commonly used in jewellery) was priced at Rs 12,331 per gram on December 22.
Silver also maintained strong levels at just over Rs 2,13,900 per kg in Delhi and the rate of Silver 925 (also known as Silver sterling) is at Rs 2,13,000 per kg.
In the national capital, the gold was priced around Rs 13,400 per gram and Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai reported similar levels, with minor variations due to local taxes and making charges.
In country, silver was trading at around Rs 2,13,900 per kilogram. Mumbai and Kolkata followed the same trend, while Chennai saw slightly higher rates, reflecting stronger local demand.
Prices in other cities typically tracked these levels, with small variations due to local taxes and demand.
Market traders say gold prices barely changed from the previous session. A slight dip in global prices and steady domestic demand have kept rates close to recent levels. Silver also saw small corrections after recent rallies.
