New Delhi: IndiGo, generally known for its on-time flights and smooth service, seems to be in trouble these days. A whistleblower's letter raised such questions on the internal arrangements of the airline that the matter has now reached the DGCA. The regulator has sought answers directly from CEO Peter Albers.

After all, what was written in the letter?

According to the anonymous letter, the airline has been facing internal pressure for quite some time. Crew shortages, heavy workloads, and staff fatigue have impacted airline operations. The letter claims that the management was aware of the situation, yet adequate steps were not taken to bring the situation under control.

It was also said that the employees working under constant stress are now breaking down, and due to this, IndiGo flights are not running on time.

Why did DGCA get angry?

In the last few weeks, thousands of passengers have had to face problems like delays, long queues, and sudden flight cancellations. When the whistleblower's letter came to light, DGCA felt that the matter was not just about crowd or season pressure, but that there was a deeper problem.

For this reason, the regulator has sent a notice to IndiGo asking why the airline did not properly follow the rules related to crew availability, rostering, and safety.

What is Indigo saying?

According to the company, the information in the letter is not verified, and the recent disruptions were only due to the sudden unavailability of several crew members. IndiGo says that the situation is being handled and operations will be brought back to better condition soon.

But amid the anger of passengers and increasing complaints on social media, the pressure on the airline is clearly visible.

Why is this issue so sensitive?

IndiGo is the largest airline in India today. Lakhs of people travel through it every day. When operations in such a big company falter, its impact is visible not only on passengers but on the entire aviation sector. DGCA's notice is an indication that the government is not going to take the situation lightly. The airline has also been asked what steps it will take to prevent such irregularities in the future.

What does the path ahead look like?

Indigo will soon have to present its case before DGCA. The officials will first study the airline's response and then decide on any further action. On the other hand, the challenge for IndiGo is not just the DGCA notice but also the trust of the passengers who travel daily with the hope that IndiGo will deliver them without any hassle.
