New Delhi: Fuel prices in India remained largely unchanged on December 20 with petrol and diesel rates steady in most states and cities.

Rates continue to differ from state to state due to local taxes, but there has been no fresh hike or cut at the national level.

Why haven't prices moved much?

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) revise fuel prices daily, but recent global crude trends and stable tax structures have kept retail rates frozen.

How much are the petrol prices state-wise?

Here's a look at petrol prices in key states and cities on December 20:

  • Delhi: Rs 94.72 per litre
  • Mumbai: Rs 104.21 per litre
  • Kolkata: Rs 103.94 per litre
  • Chennai: Rs 100.75 per litre
  • Bengaluru: Rs 102.92 per litre
  • Lucknow: Rs 94.69 per litre
  • Chandigarh: Rs 94.30 per litre
  • Jaipur: Rs 104.72 per litre
  • Patna: Rs 105.58 per litre
  • Hyderabad: Rs 107.46 per litre

What about diesel?

Diesel prices also showed little sign of change. Across many regions, diesel is selling close to the same levels seen in mid-December: roughly Rs 87- Rs 96 per litre depending on the state or city.

  • New Delhi: Rs 87.62 per litre
  • Mumbai: Rs 92.15 per litre
  • Kolkata: Rs 90.76 per litre
  • Chennai: Rs 92.34 per litre
  • Bengaluru: Rs 89.02 per litre
  • Lucknow: Rs 87.80 per litre
  • Chandigarh: Rs 82.45 per litre
  • Jaipur: Rs 90.21 per litre
  • Patna: Rs 93.80 per litre
  • Hyderabad: Rs 95.70 per litre

What does this mean for drivers?

For most vehicle owners, fuel costs have been predictable this month after a long period without major revisions. Drivers planning weekend or holiday travel can expect similar petrol and diesel prices at most filling stations across the country.
