Patna: 10,000 Teacher Aspirants Hit Streets; Demand Immediate BPSC TRE 4 Notification

Patna: Police on Friday resorted to lathicharge to disperse the aspirants of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0, who were protesting for the release of the examination notification for the Bihar Public Service Commission.

What happen in Patna?

Thousands of candidates marched from Patna College to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office. As the protesters approached JP Golambar, police erected barricades to stop them. When the candidates attempted to remove the barricades, police lathi-charged the crowd, dispersing them. Several students were injured.

Just 24 hours after the cabinet expansion, nearly 10,000 candidates took to the streets demanding an notification for the fourth phase of teacher recruitment (BPSC TRE 4.0). The protest, which began from Patna College, headed towards Dakbangla Square, bringing the entire city to a standstill.

Why is the reason of protest?

There are three main reasons behind the protest. First, the candidates allege that the government is dragging the TRE 3 process, while millions of students are awaiting the TRE 4 notification. The students' second demand is that the government make public the exact number of vacancies. And the third is that they are demanding that the 'domicile policy', which prioritizes local youth from Bihar in teacher recruitment, be strictly enforced.
