New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally opened the verification of marks and re-evaluation portal of Class 12 board examination results after facing multiple delays. Now, students who have received scanned copies of their answer sheets can apply online for verification and re-evaluation of their marks.
The board has clarified that this application process will continue until June 6, 2026. Therefore, students who have any doubts about their marks can apply within the stipulated time.
Taking to X, CBSE urged students to carefully watch the instructional video available on the portal before submitting applications.
The board has provided step-by-step guidance on the process of applying for verification of marks and re-evaluation.
"Dearest Students, The verification and re-evaluation portal is now LIVE! Please watch the video carefully for step-by-step instructions on how to apply for Verification of Marks and re-evaluation," the board wrote.
This year, the re-evaluation process has begun at a time when CBSE's new On Screen Marking (OSM) system is under constant scrutiny. The board implemented a large-scale digital checking system for the first time, with examiners checking students' scanned answer sheets. After the results were released, many students raised questions about the evaluation on social media. Some complained of low marks, while others alleged errors in scanned copies, blurred photographs, and inaccurate evaluation of answers. Following this, students' curiosity about the re-evaluation process increased, with over 400,000 applications received.
Amidst the OSM controversy and complaints from students, CBSE has also made a major reduction in the fees for post-result services. Now the fee has been fixed at Rs 100 per subject for scanned copy, Rs 100 per subject for marks verification and Rs 25 per question for re-evaluation. Earlier, the fee was Rs 700 for scanned copy, Rs 500 for marks verification and Rs 100 per question for re-evaluation, now it has been reduced. That is, the board has given a big relief to the students by reducing the fees drastically.
CBSE has also announced that if a student's marks increase after re-evaluation, the re-evaluation fee charged from them will be refunded.
To apply for re-evaluation, students should first obtain a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheet. Carefully examine the scanned copy to determine if any answers are missing, if there are any addition errors, if there are any missing pages, or if there are any errors in the evaluation. If any discrepancies are found, apply for mark verification. If a particular question has been under-reported or the evaluation was incorrect, apply for re-evaluation for that question.
