When will the NTA declare result?

According to reports, the NTA is preparing to announce the NEET UG 2026 result by July 20, which will offer relief to lakhs of medical aspirants awaiting their scores.

A senior official with the NTA told news agency ANI that the agency is busy preparing the results.

"We would not like to give out any date as of now, but the result will be out by July 20. Normally, the results are announced within 45 days of the examination, but this time, as we have conducted the exam in 37 days, we will announce the results much earlier," the official said.

When did the exam happpen?

The re-NEET UG 2026 examination was conducted on June 21, which was taken by more than 20 lakh candidates, after the exam was cancelled on May 3 over alleged paper leak allegations.

Why are students concerned?

One of the biggest concerns among NEET UG candidates is whether the MBBS session will begin late this year. The NTA has clarified that the re-exams will not alter the MBBS calendar. Typically, the new medical session in India begins in August or September. This time, the NEET UG counseling process will be expedited and the  process will begin on time.

How will the counselling take place after the NEET UG result?

As soon as the results of the NEET UG re-examination are out, the Medical Counseling Committee will release the counseling schedule on its website. Under this, a 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) Counseling will be conducted for seats at AIIMS, JIPMER, and central universities. For the remaining 85 per cent of seats, state governments will conduct counseling at their respective levels. Counseling requires online registration, payment of fees, and locking in your preferred college choice. Seats will then be allocated based on rank.
