After his recent success in Housefull 5, Abhishek Bachchan returns in a new and emotionally powerful film, Kaalidhar Laapata. Directed by Madhumita, the film introduces audiences to the story of Kaalidhar—a middle-aged man dealing with memory loss and the pain of being left behind by his own family.
Kaalidhar's life takes a heartbreaking turn when he overhears his siblings planning to desert him during the crowded Maha Kumbh Mela. Instead of waiting for them to act, he chooses to disappear on his own terms. As fate would have it, he meets Ballu, an eight-year-old boy who’s been surviving alone on the streets. Ballu is smart, fearless, and full of life. What begins as a chance encounter soon turns into a touching journey of companionship and self-discovery.
Abhishek Bachchan shared his deep connection to the film, saying, "This story moved me. Kaalidhar is fragile, innocent, and very human. Playing him helped me reconnect with emotions I hadn’t explored in a long time. His bond with Ballu reminded me how unexpected friendships can change us.
Director Madhumita said she wanted to create a story that was both personal and relatable. “*Kaalidhar Laapata* is about dignity, loneliness, and how human connection can heal. Kaalidhar, despite being forgotten by the world, still holds a quiet strength. Ballu becomes his spark and anchor. The chemistry between Abhishek and young Daivik Bhagela brings raw emotion to the screen,” she shared. She added, “This film is a reflection on how being truly seen and accepted can bring meaning back into our lives—even during our hardest times.”
Kaalidhar Laapata is set to premiere on ZEE5 on July 4th.
