Alia Bhatt's ex assistant arrested for cheating the actor: Prepared fake bills to siphon 77 lakhs

Entertainment News: Alia Bhatt's ex-assistant has been arrested for cheating her out of 77 lakhs of rupees. Vedika Prakash Shetty, the 32-year-old, is accused of committing irregularities worth 76.9 lakhs of rupees in the actor's production company, Eternal Sunshine Productions. According to the police, the fraud was committed between May 2022 and August 2024. It was reported by Alia's mother, Soni Razdan, in Juhu earlier this year on January 23rd. After the report was filed, a case was registered under sections relating to criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Who is the culprit?

According to police sources, Vedika Prakash Shetty worked as Alia Bhatt's personal assistant from 2021 to 2024. She used to handle the actor's financial documents and plan her schedule. The investigation on the case has revealed that Vedika used to prepare fake bills and get Alia's signature on them to siphon the money. She said that the money was for her travel, meetings, and other related arrangements.

Vedika's friend also involved

After preparing the fake bills and getting the actor to sign them, the money was transferred into an account, which reportedly belongs to one of Vedika's friends. She, in turn, would give the money to Vedika. This scam went on for more than two years.

Arrested in Bengaluru

The culprit ran off after Soni Rqazdanhad filed a complaint against her. She was first tracked in Rajasthan and then kept changing her locations to Karnataka and then to Pune and was finally caught by the police in Bengaluru by the Juhu police. She was then brought to Mumbai on transit demand.
