One of the largest unions in the film industry, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken a tough stand on the issue. The union has sent a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), demanding that he should not be given a certificate as long as there is a Pakistani artist in the film. FWICE also reiterated that an informal ban on Pakistani artists since 2019 has been applicable, and breaking it is against the spirit of the country.

The film is being directed by Amar Hundal and its release has been decided on 27 June. However, after increasing controversy and opposition to FWICE, there is doubt over its release in India. According to reports, producers may consider removing the share of Hania or shooting again with an Indian artist.

Hania Aamir's response

Hania Aamir shared a post expressing condolences on social media about the Pahalgam attack in which he wrote, "The tragedy of any place is a tragedy for all of us." However, this statement in India was not considered with true mind and he had to face allegations of doing pr stunt on social media.

Voices also raised in Pakistan

Interestingly, Hania Aamir had to face criticism for working in India in Pakistan too. Some users there called her "Attention Sikar" and questioned whether she is moving to India only for international popularity. The controversy arising about the casting of Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir shows how sensitive not only political relations between India and Pakistan, but also cultural relations have become. On the one hand there is strict opposition from organizations like FWICE, while the resentment of the audience is also increasing rapidly. In such a situation, now it will be important to see what the producers, CBFC and Diljit themselves take to resolve this controversy.
