Mission Impossible Box Office Collection: When Tom Cruise's spy journey that began in 1996 reached its final chapter Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, fans felt that history would repeat itself. Once again Tom in the air, mission impossible but success certain. But the pace of this last flight in India was far behind expectations.

Spark in the start, then the explosion slowed down

When the film was released in India on 17 May 2025, the first day's earnings of ₹16.5 crores gave hope to the box office. But as the days passed, this hope faded. ₹17 crores on the second day, ₹5.75 crores on the third day and ₹5.5 crores on the fourth day - this mega film could only collect a total of ₹44.75 crores in four days.

This performance raised the question whether the relationship of Indian audiences with this franchise is now limited to just 'memories'?

India's silence after Cannes' applause

The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. There it received a 'standing ovation'. It seemed that this final installment would be a golden ending for the franchise. But the scene in India was different. Big posters, big name and big expectations - but there was silence at the box office.

'Final Destination' gave a tough challenge

Final Destination: Bloodlines is currently earning tremendous money in India. It not only diminished the shine of MI:7, but also proved that the audience now wants a 'new twist' more than suspense. On the other hand, the plot and treatment of 'The Final Reckoning' seemed to be a repetition of the old formula at some places.

A franchise that thrilled a generation

The Mission Impossible series, which started in 1996, was not just a film, but an experience. In every part, Tom Cruise kept the audience glued to their seats with his stunts and enthusiasm. Anil Kapoor's presence in the fourth part further connected the Indian audience.

But times have changed. Today's audience doesn't want just action, but justified drama and emotional connection and perhaps this is where The Final Reckoning failed.

The final chapter, but an incomplete story?

Tom Cruise's career may have been immortalised by Mission Impossible, but its final chapter could not do the magic in India that was expected of it. The film is unique in terms of technology and cinematography, but it could not touch the heart - and this is the biggest factor at the box office.

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning may be a cinematic marvel, but in India it came across as an unfulfilled hope. Now it remains to be seen whether the film gains momentum again through word of mouth or this mission of Tom Cruise crash landed before reaching Indian hearts.
