As per police officials, the accused, who is identified as 47-year-old Rashi Chhabaria from Khar, had a close relationship with the family and was also entrusted with helping care for Raveena Tandon's elderly mother, Veena Tandon.
Mumbai's Juhu police have arrested 47-year-old Rashi Chhabaria for allegedly stealing jewellery and expensive watches worth around Rs 25 lakh.
According to police, the accused had been associated with the Tandon family since 2020 and regularly visited Raveena Tandon's home to care for her 86-year-old mother, Veena Tandon.
Investigators said Chhabria was considered very close to the family and was allowed access to parts of the house normally reserved for family members.
According to police investigations, the woman allegedly broke open a locker and took gold and diamond jewellery belonging to Veena Tandon. Two expensive watches belonging to film producer Rajiv Tandon were also reportedly stolen.
According to the police complaint filed by Rajiv Tandon, the alleged theft was discovered on October 2, 2025, when the family checked their jewellery before the Dussehra festival and found the locker had been broken. The stolen valuables reportedly included gold bangles, necklaces, rings, earrings, a diamond-studded mangalsutra, and other diamond jewelry worth approximately Rs 2.5 million.
When questioned about the theft, the accused, Rashi Chhabaria, allegedly denied involvement initially. However, following a formal complaint filed by Rajiv Tandon, she was arrested by Mumbai Police.
