Mumbai: Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, who was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital after he suffered a minimal brain haemorrhage on February 17, was discharged on Tuersday, according to media reports.
Dr Jalil Parkar, who was treating him, at that time in a health bulletin had said that he is currently on ventilator after he suffered a minimal brain haemorrhage.
According to media reports, Salim Khan has been discharged but is still in the hospital as part of ongoing recovery and observation.
"He has been discharged. The discharge process has been completed, but he is still in the hospital," a source told news agency PTI on Tuesday.
During Salim Khan's recovery phase, his children including Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, daughters Alvira and Arpita, along with sons-in-law Atul Agnihotri and Aayush Sharma, visited him regularly. Javed Akhtar also visited him that reflected the enduring bond the duo shares.
Salim Khan was reportedly hospitalized on February 17 after he felt “giddy” and experienced a sharp spike in blood pressure.
The legendary writer was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital and later in the evening, doctors treating him said that Salim Khan was stable and under observation.
While speaking to the media, Dr Jalil Parkar on February 18 said that, "There was minimal brain haemorrhage. A procedure called DSA was done today morning. No surgery was required. He is still on ventilator. By tomorrow hopefully, he will be off ventilator. Keeping in mind the age, the time of recovery is more."
Talking about the health problems when he was admitted, Dr Jalil Parkar (Pulmonologist) said, “Yesterday morning he (Salim Khan) was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital. He was brought in by his family physician, whose name is Dr Sandeep Chopra.”
Salim Khan, who made his debut in script writing by working in film 'Haathi Mere Saathi', has penned down for several popular Hindi cinema and his work is known across the globe.
The 79-year-old screenwriter, as a part of the prolific screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, has written films such as 'Haathi Mere Saathi', 'Zanjeer', 'Sholay', 'Deewar', 'Trishul' and 'Mr India'.
Salim Khan, who has two wives Sushila Charak (Salma Khan) and actress Helen, has also received Lifetime Achievement Honour at Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Award
