Kolkata: Veteran Tamil filmmaker Thakkali Srinivasan has passed away at the age of 56 after battling a prolonged illness on Tuesday in Bengaluru, according to family members. Apart from his contributions to film industry, he was also known for his work in humanitarian services.
Thakkali Srinivasan is a veteran Tamil filmmaker, who has contributed to Kollywood industry in different aspects like, filmmaking, direction, acting and composing music.
But recently he stepped away from the cinema and focused only on social work and his health.
In his peak days in Kollywood, as a producer, Srinivasan backed films such as 'Ivaras Varungalthoongal', 'Manasukkal Mathappu', 'Naalai Manithan', and 'Adhisaya Manithan'.
As a director also Srinivasan contributed in many films including 'Jenma Natchathiram', 'Witness', 'Ashokavanam', and 'Aduthuttu', and many of these were praised by viewers and critics.
Not only Srinivasan had hands on direction and production but he had a taste of music also. He composed music for films like 'Naalai Manithan', 'Valathu Kaalai Vaathi Vaa', 'Witness', and 'Pudiya Goli'.
This multi-talented person has also worked behind the cameras for films as an actor. He acted in films like, 'Soorasamharam', 'Sirayil Sila Raagangal', 'Jenma Natchathiram', and 'Naalai Manithan'.
According to media reports and family sources, Srinivasan passed away on Tuesday in Bengaluru after battling a prolonged illness. And his last rites will be performed on Wednesday.
The veteran filmmaker recently stepped away from the cinema and focused only on social work and his health.
Srinivasan was running an ashram, which use to take care of children adopted by him. He use take care of their living, education and other things.
