Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has once again brought the Abraham Accords into global focus during ongoing discussions surrounding a possible peace understanding between the United States and Iran. Trump has reportedly urged several Muslim-majority nations to normalize relations with Israel by joining the Abraham Accords framework.

According to Trump, the agreement can help establish long-term peace in the Middle East while also boosting regional economic cooperation and security partnerships. However, many major Muslim countries have not shown enthusiasm toward the proposal, with Pakistan emerging as one of the strongest critics.

What Are The Abraham Accords?

The Abraham Accords are a historic diplomatic agreement launched in 2020 under American mediation. The primary objective of the deal was to end decades of hostility between Israel and Arab-Muslim nations by establishing formal diplomatic, economic and security relations.

Pakistan’s official position remains unchanged — Israel cannot be recognized until an independent Palestinian state is created with East Jerusalem as its capital. Pakistani leaders have repeatedly argued that recognizing Israel without resolving the Palestinian issue would trigger massive political and public backlash inside the country.
