Dhaka: A spectacular musical program suddenly turned violent in Faridpur, Bangladesh on Friday night. The show by famous rock star James (Nagar Baul) was part of the school's 185th anniversary, but just before the show started, things went out of control and the police had to cancel the show. Many students were injured in this incident.
Thousands of students and people had gathered for the concert. Meanwhile, some suspicious people started trying to enter inside by force. When they were stopped, they suddenly started throwing bricks and stones. Many students got injured amid the chaos.
According to local media, 15 to 20 students were injured. Most people were injured by bricks and broken objects. The injured were treated in nearby hospitals. However, there is no information about anyone being seriously injured.
As the situation worsened, the organizers decided to immediately stop the concert keeping security in mind. Program coordinator Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Shamim announced from the stage that the show was being stopped on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner.
This was considered to be the most attractive presentation of the 2-day anniversary celebration of Faridpur District School. After a day full of tableaux, cultural parades and other programmes, James' live show was the main attraction. But this celebration faded due to violence.
Officials are now trying to find out who was behind the violence and for what purpose they carried out the attack. Police have started scanning the nearby CCTV footage.
According to eyewitnesses, crowd pressure and the entry system were weak. In such a situation, questions are being raised that what was lacking in security preparations for such a big function.
