New Delhi: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has revealed details about three extramarital affairs. Gates alleged that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was aware of these affairs and was plotting to blackmail him.
This revelation regarding Bill Gates emerged in a report by the US House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Jeffrey Epstein's network and connections. Renewed scrutiny of Gates' past ties to Epstein followed the recent release of new documents by the Department of Justice.
In this context, lawmakers recorded a statement from Gates; he personally appeared before the committee on June 10. During the proceedings, Gates disclosed that Epstein was fully aware of his affairs with two Russian women.
Gates revealed that he had extramarital affairs with Russian bridge player Mila Antonova and nuclear physicist Karima Nigmatulina. He also confirmed an extramarital affair with medical industrialist Alice Jacobs Nesselrodt.
According to the testimony transcript released on Tuesday, Bill Gates stated, "These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family. Epstein was trying to use information about my infidelity—along with various fabrications—to pressure me into re-engaging with him."
However, Bill Gates categorically denied any involvement in Epstein's crimes, though he admitted that maintaining contact with him was a mistake. Gates explained that he met Epstein to discuss philanthropic initiatives. He said, "I knew he had been convicted. I was aware of that." "I was willing to take the risk of meeting him in a limited capacity."
Bill Gates claimed that Epstein was attempting to exploit information about his personal life. Epstein was considering blackmailing him after learning about his affairs. However, he never actually did so. Gates said, "He never blackmailed me, but looking at these emails raises the possibility that he had considered blackmailing me."
