New Delhi: Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong has reiterated China's firm stance on Taiwan, claiming that the island nation has been a part of China since ancient times and has never been an independent sovereign country.

What did the Chinese ambassador say?

He said that China's international legal status did not change after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, and the PRC government has sovereignty over all of China, including Taiwan.

Ambassador Xu Feihong once again reiterated China's firm stance on Taiwan. He said that Taiwan has been a part of China since ancient times, and there is no dispute about this. According to him, the historical and legal facts concerning Taiwan are completely clear.

The Chinese Ambassador said that the People's Republic of China was founded in October 1949, replacing the Republic of China government and becoming the sole legitimate representative of all of China.

"The government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was founded in October 1949, replacing the government of the Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the whole of China. Despite the change of government, China, as a subject of international law, did not change. The PRC government naturally has and exercises China’s full sovereignty, including sovereignty over Taiwan," Feihong stated.

“Taiwan has belonged to China since antiquity. The history and legal facts are very clear," he added.

He said that due to the civil war and interference from external forces, a political confrontation continues to persist between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.

"Due to the lingering civil war and the intervention of external forces, the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have fallen into a state of protracted political confrontation. Nonetheless, China’s sovereignty and territory have never and will never be split, and Taiwan’s status as part of China’s territory has never changed and can never change," the ambassador said.

"Taiwan is never an independent sovereign state, not in the past, not at present and still less in the future. Whatever the DPP authorities say or do, the historical trend that China must and will achieve reunification cannot be obstructed."

What does Xu feel about China's future?

The Chinese Ambassador also reiterated that Taiwan has never been an independent sovereign country, neither in the past, nor in the present, nor in the future. He said that no matter what statements or actions the ruling DPP administration in Taiwan makes, China's reunification is inevitable and nothing can stop it. "China's reunification is inevitable."

“Taiwan has never been an independent, sovereign country, neither in the past, nor in the present, nor will it be in the future. He said that no matter what statements or actions the ruling DPP administration in Taiwan makes, China's reunification is inevitable and nothing can stop it,” he asserted.

“Taiwan has been and will remain an integral part of China,” Xu claimed.
