Washington: Amidst the excitement of midterm elections in America, President Donald Trump is now being challenged from within his own party. Republican leaders, who remained silent for a long time, have now started openly expressing different opinions. Questions have started being raised on Trump's decisions in both houses of Congress and the party itself has shocked him on many important proposals.

On which issues did the party show opposition?

In the past few weeks, several factions of Republicans in the Senate and House of Representatives voted against Trump's policies. His tough stance on Iran was criticised. The party itself rejected the one billion dollar funding sought for the White House Ballroom. Apart from this, Trump also had to withdraw from the 1.8 million billion "anti-weapons" fund. His proposed legislation related to domestic spying was also blocked in Congress.

Did party also expressed opposite views on Ukraine-Russia?

On Thursday, the House passed a bill to provide economic and military aid to Ukraine. There is also a provision to impose new sanctions on Russia in this bill. This is directly against Trump's foreign policy. It is believed that if this bill reaches him, he will veto it. But having MPs from his own party vote in favor of this bill is a big message for Trump.

Has the rebellion against Trump started?

There is doubt in both the Republican and Democrat camps that Trump is facing a full-scale rebellion. However, it is clear that a section of the party is no longer ready to agree with him. Interestingly, among those protesting are many such faces who were once removed from office by Trump himself. These leaders can now create hurdles in their big plans till the elections.

How are the Democrats viewing this entire incident?

Democrats say that it is too early to consider the opposition of some Republican Party leaders as a rebellion of the entire party. According to him, the entire party still seems to be standing with Trump on big and decisive issues. Democratic Senator John Fetterman taunted, "Those who are separating from Trump today, it was Trump who once showed them the way out of the party."

What does the White House say?

A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, called the entire affair "election-year politics." According to the official, as the elections approach, some leaders seem to be distancing themselves from the President to save their seats. This is not a new thing.

For now, the picture is clear – Trump will have to strike a balance within the party before the midterm elections. The leaders who were once their most loyal are now becoming their biggest headache. The coming days will decide whether this protest is just a show or whether Trump's path is really going to be difficult.
