Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again praised Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling them “very capable leadership”.
Trump said this on his social media platform Truth Social, in which he said that he has been informed about an important meeting held in Islamabad. This meeting, which was hosted by Pakistan, is said to be aimed at reducing tension between America and Iran.
Trump once again reiterated his claim that he had played a role in preventing the conflict between India and Pakistan last year. According to him, if this conflict had escalated, lakhs of people could have lost their lives.
However, the Government of India has already clarified that there was no role of any third party in this entire matter and this matter was handled at the bilateral level.
According to reports, representatives of America and Iran held talks in the meeting held in Islamabad. The objective of this discussion was to reduce the tension that has been going on between the two countries for six weeks.
During the meeting, US Vice President JD Vance said that Iran has refused to accept American conditions, especially regarding the nuclear program.
Iran's representatives say that America's demands were "too harsh" and that is why no agreement could be reached. America alleges that Iran failed to build trust.
From Iran's side it was also said that there was agreement on some issues, but differences remained on issues like Strait of Hormuz and nuclear program.
This conversation was considered the most important between America and Iran in the last decade, but it ended without any concrete agreement. According to Iran, several “backdoor” proposals were put forward in the talks, but agreement could not be reached due to the conditions imposed by the US side.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that it is very important to maintain the ceasefire so that stability is maintained in the region.
Tension may have reached the negotiating table, but the rhetoric regarding US-Iran differences and India-Pakistan conflict has made the situation sensitive again. Experts believe that diplomatic tension may increase further in the coming days.
