International News: The security of US President Donald Trump is being increased. During Donald Trump's visit to Britain this week, the US President will be protected by an army of drones. This decision has been taken after the murder of Trump's key political ally Charlie Kirk. Reports suggest that Windsor Castle will be monitored by 55 drones which will carry out security operations round the clock. Security was also beefed up during the King's coronation two years ago.
King Charles will host the US President and First Lady Melania for two days starting Tuesday. Chris Phillips, the former head of the National Counterterrorism Security Office, said the biggest threat to Trump is a close-range attack, not a long-range sniper attack like Kirk. We don't have a gun culture, but we do have firearms, Phillips said. Flags will be used to block high places to prevent any attacks like the sniper attack on Charlie Kirk and the assassination attempt on Trump himself last year. Drones present a new threat and if a drone is used for a bomb attack, the police will have anti-drone guns.
Yesterday, police were seen clearing drains near Windsor Castle and erecting barricades on the Long Walk in preparation for Trump's arrival. The Union Jack as well as the Stars and Stripes flag fluttered on the streets of Windsor as a symbol of unity. The incident comes a week after right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead while addressing an audience at Utah Valley University.
