International News: The earth shook once again in Pakistan. The intensity of this earthquake, which occurred at 9:58 pm, was measured at 4.4 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was in the northern areas of Pakistan, where mild to moderate tremors were felt. Many people came out of their homes in panic due to the sudden shaking of the earth in the silence of the night.
Although, there is no report of any loss of life or property due to this earthquake, but people are scared after the tremor. Especially in those areas where there are old or weak buildings, people are seen to be more worried. As a precaution, the administration has put all the necessary agencies on alert and has issued instructions to keep an eye on the situation at the local level.
Experts say that Pakistan and its surrounding areas are extremely vulnerable to earthquakes. Due to the collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates, seismic activities are more than normal here. Due to this, tremors keep occurring from time to time in the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. In the last few years, Pakistan has faced earthquakes of severe intensity several times, causing huge damage.
Although the earthquake this time was not very intense, it is definitely a warning. Experts believe that frequent mild tremors can be a sign of a major earthquake. In such a situation, it has become very important to prepare earthquake resistant structures in time and make people aware. At present, the local administration is keeping an eye on the situation and relief teams have also been kept ready.
People have also been appealed not to pay heed to any rumours and follow the government guidelines. Quick review is being done regarding earthquake preparedness especially in schools, hospitals and densely populated areas. NCS has also intensified monitoring of any further movement through its network.
Earthquakes are not new in the history of Pakistan, but every tremor is like a new warning. The Kashmir earthquake of 2005 is a bad example of this, in which thousands of lives were lost. In such a situation, it is the joint responsibility of both the government and the public to strengthen preparations and remain alert to avoid this natural disaster.
