Rabi Laxmi Chitrakar, the wife of Nepal’s former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, has died after sustaining critical injuries burned when their house in Dallu was set on fire amid ongoing unrest. Family members said a group of demontarters allegedly forced her inside the home before igniting the fire. She was taken quickly to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in very serious condition but could not survive the injuries.

Deadly Protests

The attack happened as violent protests led by young people continued in Nepal for a second day. This was despite the government saying it had ended its ban on social media platforms. Protesters were demanding the removal of Oli and the dismissal of the government after two more people were killed on the second day of demonstrations. The death toll has now reached 22, and more than 300 people have been injured.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
