Trump Makes Blunder, Mentions Iran Instead Of India While Talking About India-Pakistan Nuclear War Conflict

International News: Trump on India-Pakistan Conflict:  US President Donald Trump appeared to confuse India and Iran when he reiterated that he used tariffs to prevent a potential nuclear war between India and Pakistan. He has repeatedly claimed to have prevented wars using tariffs, even claiming that his trade policies helped end five or six of the eight wars during his presidency.

Asked whether the United States was entering a protracted trade war with China, Trump launched a lengthy defense of his trade policy. Speaking to reporters at the White House, he said, "We have 100 percent tariffs. If there weren't tariffs, our image would be nothing. We would have no defense. They've imposed tariffs on us, but we've never had anyone sitting here who felt the need to do that."

'Tariffs are necessary to maintain peace'

In his response, Trump claimed that tariffs are responsible for maintaining peace around the world and even ending wars. However, in the process, he confused India with Iran, saying that he was "negotiating a trade deal with Iran," and mentioned an incident involving Pakistan.

'Both sides were warned'

Trump said, "For example, if you look at Pakistan and Iran, I told them I was negotiating a trade deal with Iran, and Pakistan would be in it. Because of the tariffs, they all wanted to negotiate differently. Then I heard they were taking shots at each other, and I said, 'Are you guys going to war? We're thinking about two nuclear powers.'"

Trump claimed that he had warned both sides that if they went to war, he would impose 200 percent tariffs and ban them from doing business with the US. He added, "The war ended within 24 hours. It would have been a nuclear war."

Shahbaz thanks Pakistan for stopping the war 

Trump reiterated that Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had praised him for preventing a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. Trump said, "The Prime Minister of Pakistan got up one day and said very beautifully, 'You saved millions of lives.' He said this to a group of people sitting in his office. He said, 'The President saved millions of lives.'

Trump further stated that Sharif's comments were pointing to a potential standoff with India. "He was referring to the possibility of a nuclear war with India," Trump claimed. "It was coming very close. Seven planes were shot down."
