Washington: The United States, which has been the world's dominant power since World War II, is now seeing its throne shaking. Recently, the IMF published a report that included projections for the top 10 contributors to global real GDP growth in 2026. In this report, China and India appeared ahead of the United States. Reacting to this report, billionaire businessman Elon Musk wrote that the world's balance of power is now shifting.
Elon Musk shared his reaction by reposting this information shared on social media by a page called World of Statistics. According to this report, in 2026, China will contribute 26.6 percent and India 17.0 percent to global GDP. Together, these two countries will contribute approximately 44 percent of the total real GDP growth worldwide, which is far more than the combined contribution of most other economies. After China and India, the United States is in third place on this list, contributing 9.9 percent.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) releases projected figures for global GDP growth year after year. For 2026, it projected a global GDP growth rate of 3.3 percent and for 2027, 3.2 percent. The report states that global inflation is expected to decline, although inflation in the US will reach its target gradually. The IMF warned that "risks to the economic outlook remain tilted to the downside."
It is worth noting that after US President Donald Trump's tariff policy, experts have called it dangerous for the United Nations in the long run. However, the US remains a global economic power and will continue to be so for a long time. But Trump's policies have begun to alienate even America's closest allies. Canada and other NATO countries are now looking for alternatives to the US, and if this process continues, the future will not be good for the United States.
