Amid the growing concern related to former Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan's well-being, and several allegations by his family members that they are not being allowed to meet him in jail, authorities on Tuesday granted permission to his sister, Uzma Khanum, to visit the jail to meet the PTI founder.
As per the Dawn News, Uzma went inside the Adiala Jail to meet the former Pakistan Prime Minister, along with several PTI supporters.
Notaly, this sudden development came after PTI supporters continued their protest, demanding the well-being of Imran Khan. Notably, Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023, when he was found guilty on corruption charges.
Notably, PTI supporters also held protests near the Islamabad High Court despite Section 144 being in force there. After their continous protest in Islamabad, Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry stated that Section 144 would be enforced in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Itis to be noted here that PTI has planned protests in both these places, as per report of Dawn.
Tallal Chaudhry further warned that “whether they come to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) or the Adiala jail, action under Section 144 would be carried out without any discrimination,” urging PTI-backed lawmakers to “abide by the law.”
Earlier, due to the growing concerns over the health of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is in jail, members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a massive protest outside the Islamabad High Court, raising slogans demanding justice and political reforms. PTI supporters also gathered outside the court despite Section 144 being in force in the capital. The former PM and party chief has reportedly had no contact with anyone for nearly a month.
