Tehran: Tuesday brought another trouble for Iran. Even before the attacks by America and Israel, an earthquake occurred early in the morning in this country. Iran is already being bombed. This time the ground shook from below. The earth shook near the city of Gerash in Fars Province. Its intensity was 4.3.

When and where did the shock come?

The earthquake occurred at around 06:54 GMT on Tuesday morning, about 55 kilometers northwest of the city of Gerash in Fars province of southern Iran. USGS confirmed that its depth was about 10 kilometers below the ground. At present there is no news of any casualty or building collapse.

Why did the rumor of nuclear test spread on social media?

As soon as news of the earthquake spread, there was a flood of rumors on X and Telegram. People started saying that this is not an earthquake, it is Iran's nuclear test. But CTBTO did not issue any alert. There were no abnormal readings of any radiation. There is also no nuclear test site in Fars Province. That means the rumor turned out to be just a rumour.

Have earthquakes occurred here before?

This entire area of Gerash falls in the Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt, where the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates collide with each other. It is considered to be the most earthquake active area of the Middle East. Statistics show that the region experiences an average of 85 earthquakes each year, including about 15 of magnitude 4.0 or greater. That means this earthquake was not unusual, it was just that the timing was bad.

Is Iran already facing a double blow?

This blow came at a time when Iran is already vulnerable to US-Israeli bombing. Air traffic is closed. People are afraid to leave their homes and there is an atmosphere of chaos in the entire country. This Tuesday was very heavy for Iran, with missiles from the sky on one side and the trembling of the ground on the other.

This earthquake occurred at a time when Iran was already devastated by the joint US-Israeli bombing. Air traffic is ground to a halt, civilian casualties are occurring and the security situation remains extremely critical. FDD This shaking of the ground may be natural for a country already facing death from the sky, but it certainly deepens the tragedy of the situation.
