Washington: Tension between America and Iran has once again increased in the Middle East. The US Army has carried out air strikes on several Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran for the second consecutive day. In response, Iran also launched missile attacks targeting military bases associated with America. US President Donald Trump has warned Iran not to think about retaliating, otherwise its consequences could be very serious.
According to Iranian news agency IRNA, several loud explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, Qishm Island, Jask and Serik in southern Iran. Apart from this, information about four projectiles falling in south-eastern Chabahar and Konark areas has also come to light.
Iran's Fars News Agency quoted an IRGC spokesperson as saying that America will regret its new attacks. At the same time, America has accused Iran of trying to attack commercial ships in Hormuz and American soldiers deployed in the area.
America carried out airstrike on Iranian rocket launchers in Hormuz. About two days later, Iran fired ballistic missiles at US military bases in Jordan. Jordan claimed that its air defense system intercepted eight missiles that entered its airspace.
According to US Central Command, the IRGC was preparing rockets to be fired from maritime mines in Hormuz. The US says that due to Iran's military activities the threat to American troops deployed in the area had increased.
Donald Trump responded on social media platform Truth Social following Iran's retaliatory attacks. Trump said that America is carrying out major and powerful attacks on Iranian targets near Hormuz Street.
According to Trump, the Iranians fired eight missiles at a US military base in Jordan, which were shot down. He warned that if Iran tries to avenge these attacks, it will be attacked on a much larger scale.
The ever-increasing military tension between America and Iran has made the situation in the Middle East extremely serious. Tension had eased for some time after the attacks on dozens of IRGC positions on July 29, but now direct military confrontation between the two countries has again intensified.
Increasing military activities in the Strait of Hormuz may increase concerns about regional security as well as global oil supply. The whole world will keep an eye on the next action of America and Iran in the coming days.
