New Delhi: The tension between America and Iran seems to be intensifying once again. In the latest development, Iran has given a strict warning to America that if any pressure or military action is tried on it, its response will be equally strong. Tehran has also raised demands for compensation for the recent attacks and accused Washington of “exerting psychological pressure" and called on US officials to get out of the hole they have dug for themselves.

Did the allegations against America increase tension?

A senior official associated with Iran's presidential office has raised questions on America's strategy. He says that America is deliberately bringing such things to the fore, which will create confusion at the international level and put pressure on Iran.

Why did the attack on Minab school ignite a new fire?

On February 28, an American Tomahawk missile fell on a primary school in Minab city of Iran. According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, 73 boys and 47 girls, including 26 teachers, seven parents, a school bus driver and a pharmacist were killed. A total of 155 people died. Initial reports from the US military investigation believed the attack was caused by outdated targeting data, mistaking the school for part of a military complex. Regarding this attack, Tabatabai called Trump a "killer of children" and demanded compensation.

How did the war start?

On February 28, 2026, America and Israel conducted about 900 air strikes in 12 hours. Dozens of senior officials including Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were killed in this. In response, Iran fired missiles at US embassies, military bases in the Gulf and oil vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices skyrocketed around the world as soon as the Strait of Hormuz closed.

Why is there no peace despite ceasefire?

A two-week ceasefire was brokered by Pakistan on 8 April. Later it was also increased, but the situation on the ground did not stop. Iran again closed the Strait of Hormuz after the US refused to lift the naval blockade. The US Navy is still deployed in Hormuz, which Iran calls an attack on its sovereignty.

What was the impact on the global economy?

The price of crude oil in the international market crossed $125 per barrel. Gasoline in the US has reached above four dollars a gallon and inflation is at its highest level in almost two years. The World Food Program warned that if this conflict does not stop soon, more than 45 million people could be on the verge of starvation.

What will happen next?

On one hand, Trump says that the war is "almost over", on the other hand he threatens Iran that the attacks will continue if the demands are not met. Iran's answer is clear that if there is talk in the language of power, it will get a strong slap. Iran's UN envoy said that for lasting peace, Iran needs concrete guarantees of not being attacked. At present the ceasefire is only on paper, real peace is still far away.
