Bahrain said on Saturday that a missile attack targeted the US Navy's 5th Fleet headquarters in the island kingdom. It did not immediately provide further details about the attack.

Bahrain's state news agency says that multiple locations within the Kingdom were struck as a result of an "attack" originating from outside the country. Bahrain has called the attack a blatant violation of the country's sovereignty and security and said that authorities in Bahrain are implementing "emergency measures."

It said, "The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemns this treacherous attack, which poses a direct threat to the Kingdom and its citizens."

What about Qatar and Kuwait?

Warning alerts sounded on mobile phones in Qatar, urging people to seek shelter in safe places. Eyewitnesses reported hearing sirens and explosions in Kuwait, home to the US Army Central Command.
