New Delhi: American singer Mary Milben has alleged that some donors opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in America are giving financial help to Abhijit Dipke and Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Milben claims that this money is being used to support activities that disrupt governance in India. By sharing a post on social media platform X, she appealed to the Indian youth to raise their voice against this alleged foreign interference and register a peaceful protest.
Mary Milben claimed in her post that some US-based donors opposing Prime Minister Modi are giving financial assistance to Abhijit Dipke and his party. She alleged that some donors adopt a special method to target leaders with conservative ideology in different countries of the world. According to her, such people select an American-educated person from the concerned country, radicalise her, and then, after returning to their country, give her financial assistance and encourage her to carry out activities against the government. Milben did not provide any public financial documents or names of donors in her post to support these claims.
Milben, while addressing the Indian youth, said that they should not remain silent and should express their views openly. Terming CJP's activities as allegedly disruptive, she called upon the youth to organise and hold peaceful protests against the party. She said that a counter-movement is needed to protect democracy and freedom. She also said that Prime Minister Modi will not bow down to the pressure of external forces. Milben's appeal comes at a time when people associated with CJP and other opposition groups are protesting demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Protestors belonging to the Cockroach Janata Party and the opposition are raising questions regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. Their demand is that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should resign. The protesters have raised concerns over alleged irregularities and deletion of names from the voter list. On the other hand, the dispute continues between the government side and the allegations raised regarding the election process. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is also among the prominent faces associated with this movement. In such a political environment, Milben's statement has sparked a new debate about the party's funding and foreign influence.
Mary Milben is an American singer who received special recognition during the 2022 Independence Day celebrations in India. During her visit to America in the year 2023, she also presented the national anthem of India in the programme attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then she has been publicly praising Prime Minister Modi and his leadership. Even in the current controversy, she mentioned Modi's political tenure and said that he will not bow down to external pressure.
Currently, Mary Milben's statement alleges CJP receives US funding, but available reports do not provide concrete financial documents to independently corroborate this or identify the relevant donors. Therefore this claim should be seen as Milben's allegation rather than as a proven fact. It will also be important to understand the reaction of Abhijit Dipke and CJP on the matter so that the complete picture of the questions related to the source of funding and activities of the organisation can be revealed.
