Indian students in Iran have released a video appealing for help. They say they don't know what will happen next. They say they can't even tell what is happening here. There are continuous airstrikes. They have appealed to the Indian government and the Ministry of External Affairs to evacuate them as soon as possible.
The Indian Embassy in Iran stated in a post on X, "In view of the evolving situation, all Indian citizens in Iran are advised to exercise extreme caution, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay indoors as much as possible." The Embassy urged all Indian citizens to monitor news reports, remain aware of the surrounding situation, and await further instructions from the Indian Embassy.
In light of the situation and tensions prior to the attack, India advised all its citizens living in Iran on Monday, February 23rd, to leave the country using all available means of transportation, including commercial flights, due to the deteriorating security situation. According to official estimates in January, over 10,000 Indians, including students, were living in Iran.
This advisory from India caused the greatest distress among medical students who had gone there to study medicine. These students stated that a crucial exam related to their course was about to be held. The Indian students had stated that the exam was scheduled for March 5th, which is why they remained in Iran. Only after passing the exam would they be allowed to practice in hospitals.
